PaperDemon.com is where I learned most of what I know about PHP, MySQL, DHTML, SEO, and Javascript. The website in it's current form is almost purely my own code written from scratch.

The site consists of an art gallery section where members can upload their artwork for the world to see. Members can write comments on the artwork, voicing their opinions and critiques.

PaperDemon.com also has a writing section. Unlike DeviantArt and other popular art gallery sites, the writing section is a completely separate section which allows for complete distinction between literature and artwork and for more proper categorization. I modeled the writing system after Fanfiction.net and MediaMiner.org, which allows for multiple chapters of a story and separation of critiques by chapter.

There is also an active Forums section where members can ask questions and debate about current events. The forum is my own software that I've used on some of my other sites. Having my own forum allowed for more seamless integration into the PaperDemon site. It also allowed me to have quick links under each user's post straight to their artwork submissions, writing submissions, and profile page.

I've used the FCK Editor to add rich text formatting capabilities to the forums and other parts of the site.

Other notable features include private messaging, an AJAX powered chat room, an AJAX powered chat box, a web comics section, and profile skins.

*PaperDemon originally started out under the domain name BogusRed.net and was moved in September of 2005 to the more suitable domain name PaperDemon.com. The BogusRed.net domain is now used for my personal website.
